Innellan was a small farming community until the Victorians came in the mid-19th century. They were wealthy merchants intent on building holiday homes, churches, and leisure facilities.

They only arrived for a number of months of the year, and when they left, the tradesman and shopkeepers who had built their businesses, then carved out the community that became Innellan as we know it.

On this walk you will hear the stories of the houses, churches, leisure facilities, and the people who created them,, alongside the trades, trademen, shops, and merchants. Innellan was not in a bubble, and so the inffluences of the wider world between 1850 and 1950 are also considered.

Starting from Sandy Beach on the front shore, up Newton Road, along North Campbell Road, down Matheson Lane, finishing at Innellan Pier.
